Life is a Journey

Is the title of this post ever so cliché?  Probably but that does not make it any less true. Life is a journey and it is all about finding yourself and everything that makes you happy. Your life is your own and no one else’s to understand. Do not let people make you feel bad because your life is not following the timeline they think you should be on. Life happens differently for each person. People in life will constantly try to bring you down but I want to tell you why that should not get you down. How easy is it to get down on ourselves when things do not seem to be working out? Super easy, right? I have to ask you one favor and that is to STOP. Stop beating yourself up because you are not in your dream career field yet, stop beating yourself up because you do not have a certain amount of money in the bank yet, stop beating yourself up if you are still single. STOP. You have to realize that just because something has not happened yet does not mean it will never happen. I am someone who at times can very easily become discouraged when I see someone else accomplishing things faster than I am and I must stop doing that. I do not ever rain on anyone else’s parade when they are doing great and achieving their goals, so why should I keep raining on mine when I have not got there just yet? Everyone lives their life at a different pace. There are circumstances that sometimes are outside of our control and due to that, it may take a little longer to conquer a goal. Stop comparing the timeline of your life with someone else’s timeline. I am not saying you should slack off due to your circumstances but I am saying that you can work just as hard although it may take longer. Life is a journey. Never treat your life like a race to the finish line. Remember, the tortoise beat the hare. Life is meant to be enjoyed and experienced and lived to the fullest. When you are constantly rushing to get to the next thing because you THINK you should, you miss out on your life. I never want to be someone who when it is all said and done has regretted living too quickly. You are not promised tomorrow so therefore you should enjoy today. You never know how long the timeline of your life will actually be so why stress out and be upset over things that could possibly not happen? You can not possibly enjoy all life has to offer when you are constantly thinking about tomorrow. If you are still working a minimum wage job to take of yourself or your family that is fine. As long as you are surviving and doing the best you can, that is all that matters. Do not let society tell you that you should be doing the same as someone else. Not every person has the same dreams, same goals, or same ambitions. Life is about doing what is best for you. Do not be bothered by the judgment of another person. Chase YOUR goals, YOUR dreams, YOUR life. Your life has so much to offer, no matter how long it takes. Always chase your dreams, always learn the lessons you are taught and do not regret the decisions you have made. Your path is not meant for everyone to walk on and not everyone will understand it. The most important things are to be happy and know that you are doing your best, not following a schedule of what someone else has mapped out for you. The world is yours for the taking. Whether you are accomplishing it all right now or in the next 15 years, you can do it. Focus on today. Work hard today. Do your best today. I never want anyone, including myself, to take life for granted. We have been gifted something so special, find yourself. Life is a journey so take it at whatever pace is best suited for you.

  1. So true! With social media everywhere, I tend to compare myself and where I am at in my life to everyone else. But I need to take the time to be present and happy for where I am and all I have. It’s not an exact path to get anywhere. Thank you for this post.

  2. Thank you for sharing this Dylan. This is really helpful. Everyday for me is a challenge and getting through it is hard. Life is a journey I guess, there will be good times and there will be bad times. Only thing is to make the best of both of the good time and bad time. Also learn from the challenges!

  5. Very inspirational! I think this is just the kind of thing that I needed to hear SO many times people get so caught up in trying to please people and fit into what other people want of them that they forget to live life and do things for themselves. Great read!

  6. I loved this! Just what I needed to read on a difficult day like today! I love the motivational posts and positive vibes I’m finding on your site.

It is so easy to get sucked into what society expects/pressure from others. This is what makes chasing dreams so scary.
